Our services include well-woman exams, Pap smears, breast exams, hormone evaluation, menopause management, thyroid screening, contraception counseling, and dedicated care for PCOS, perimenopause and menopause, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic floor dysfunction. We accept Medicare, most major PPO plans, and HMO plans.
We are a physician-owned practice with 12 providers who take the time to listen, explain, and build a health plan around your specific concerns. Same-day appointments are available, and on-site phlebotomy means your lab work happens during your visit.
Well-Woman Exams and Preventive Screenings
Your annual well-woman exam is one of the most effective tools for catching health issues early. During your visit, your provider reviews your medical history, performs a physical exam, and orders age-appropriate screenings. This includes:
- Pap smear and HPV testing based on current guidelines
- Clinical breast exam
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar screening
- Thyroid function testing
- Bone density risk assessment for women over 50 or with risk factors
- Mental health screening for depression and anxiety
- Review of family history for breast, ovarian, and colon cancer risk
Mammogram referrals, colonoscopy scheduling, and specialist referrals are all handled by our team. We send your records, manage prior authorizations, and follow up on results.
Menopause and Perimenopause Care
Menopause is a normal transition, and it should not be something you just endure. Many women spend years dealing with hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood changes, brain fog, and vaginal dryness before getting meaningful help. At Avita MD, we start with a thorough evaluation of your symptoms and hormone levels, then discuss the full range of treatment options.
For many women, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) provides significant relief while supporting bone density and cardiovascular health. We also address menopause through lifestyle modifications, non-hormonal medications when appropriate, and ongoing monitoring. Every plan is individualized based on your symptoms, health history, and preferences.
Hormone Health
Hormonal imbalances can develop at any age, not just during menopause. Irregular periods, fatigue, weight changes, hair thinning, acne, and mood disruption can all have hormonal causes. We use functional hormone analysis to test estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, thyroid hormones, cortisol, and other markers, and to understand how your body produces and processes hormones, so we can develop a targeted treatment plan.
If you are interested in a deeper assessment, our executive wellness exam includes an expanded panel with over 60 biomarkers, including a full hormone profile.
PCOS, Sexual Health, and Pelvic Floor Care
We take a functional, personalized approach to conditions that are too often overlooked in routine care. For polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), we combine functional hormone analysis with metabolic screening for insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk, then build a plan that can include functional nutrition counseling and ongoing monitoring.
We also evaluate and treat sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor dysfunction with the same individualized attention. Pelvic floor physical therapy is part of how we address symptoms like pelvic pain, urinary changes, and discomfort. Throughout your care, we collaborate with gynecologists across the Bay Area so you have specialist input when it is helpful.
Thyroid and Metabolic Health
Thyroid disorders affect women at significantly higher rates than men. Hypothyroidism can cause fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, dry skin, and depression. Hyperthyroidism can cause anxiety, weight loss, rapid heart rate, and heat intolerance. We screen for thyroid dysfunction as part of routine women's health care and manage treatment when needed.
We also provide metabolic screening, including insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk, which can contribute to weight gain, PCOS-related symptoms, and long-term health. When nutrition is a factor, functional nutrition counseling is part of the plan.
Coordinated Care and Referrals
When you need a specialist, we handle the process. Our team coordinates referrals with El Camino Health, Stanford, UCSF, and gynecologists, breast surgeons, endocrinologists, and other specialists across the Bay Area. We send your records, coordinate the referral, manage prior authorizations, and follow up so nothing falls through the cracks.
